OpenAI has announced that it is testing a search engine on a small group of users, and intends to integrate this function into ChatGPT, making this conversation program based on generative artificial intelligence a competitor to Google, according to Agence France-Presse.
Answers to queries through this engine, called SearchGPT, will combine elements of GPT-4 with information collected directly from the Internet.
Unlike ChatGPT, which produces written answers without citing any other references, SearchGPT answers also include links to third-party sites that served as the source of the answer.
Therefore, “Search GPT” will be similar to the new search engine “AI Overviews” that Google announced in mid-May, and it works similarly.
OpenAI explained in a presentation posted online on Thursday that SearchGPT is “designed to help users identify content creators by clearly citing websites and including links to them.”
OpenAI said it has partnered with content publishers, enabling them to choose how they appear in answers to queries.
Importance of Search Open AI.
OpenAI confirmed that SearchGPT may cite websites even if their owners refuse to allow their content to be used to develop generative AI interfaces such as ChatGPT.
By mentioning direct links and references, ChatGPT becomes closer to Google, which still almost completely dominates the search engine market.Although Microsoft added generative artificial intelligence to its Bing search engine thanks to its partnership with OpenAI, Microsoft was unable to take any market share from Google
